17 Nov Sweet Merian | Brisbane Maternity and Newborn Photographer
Waiting for a precious baby girl…
I first met Merian’s lovely parents for their maternity session in the studio.
Even if a dad isn’t too sure about being involved in maternity photos, I always encourage them to come along anyway. It’s lovely to get to know both parents before they bring their newborn to the studio, and I love capturing the love and connection that a couple share in the moments before their family is grown and changed forever.
Brand new baby Merian – 11 days old
I always invite my clients to bring special and sentimental items into the studio for their newborn session. This stunning masi mat is the biggest prop I’ve had in the studio and looks AMAZING with gorgeous little Merian. Such a beautiful way to celebrate her Fijian heritage.
This lovely setup is one of my all-time favourites. I made the little rainbow blanket from a hard-to-find Cleckheaton California yarn. I found some at The Yarn Store online, but unfortunately it looks to be out of stock there at the moment. If you’re looking for it, you could try Lincraft – they sometimes have it in stock. Initially I wasn’t too sure about it, but I think it photographs beautifully, and suits Merian’s gorgeous skin perfectly.
I love this one! Look at the way she’s gazing at her mummy!
As you can see from many of the photos here, Merian was wide awake for a lot of her session. By the time we got to family photos she’d had enough. Rather than push her through feeling cranky and overtired, we took these gorgeous family shots about a week later when they came back for their ordering appointment.
The finished product!
This canvas is just stunning “in real life”. The frame was being sent overseas, so we chose perspex instead of glass so that it wouldn’t get damaged in transit.
And of course, some beautiful loose fine-art prints. Must be seen and felt to be properly enjoyed!
